Agnipath Scheme News | New Changes Only For Serving Agniveers, New Recruits Still Get 4 Years
The government has clarified that the latest Agnipath scheme changes apply only to nine batches of Agniveers already serving in the armed forces. Under the revised arrangement, the first 25% of each batch will continue to enter the regular cadre after four years. The remaining 75% can opt for a second two-year engagement, with a route to regular absorption after six years, subject to eligibility. Fresh recruits inducted after December 2026 will continue under the original four-year model for now.
