Microsoft has built custom AI chip for cloud infrastructure
Microsoft has unveiled two custom-designed chips, the Microsoft Azure Maia 100 AI Accelerator and the Microsoft Azure Cobalt CPU, aimed at boosting the performance of its infrastructure for training large language models. The chips, which will be rolled out early next year, are tailored for Microsoft cloud and AI workloads and will initially power the company's own services before being made available to industry partners.
