Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella in India, to meet with villagers helping develop Microsoft AI tools
Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is in India to focus on developing AI footprint, providing skilling opportunities, and meeting with Karya, a company that creates high-quality datasets in Indian languages. Karya started as a Microsoft Research project and now operates independently, using the Karya app built on Microsoft Azure. The project aims to make technology accessible in under-resourced languages and benefit millions of Indians who don't have digital tools. AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT and Microsoft's Copilot currently work well in English, but there are 22 official languages in India, with thousands of dialects.
