Israel-Hamas War Updates: Egypt To Open Aid Corridor To Gaza
US President Joe Biden pledged to help Israel and the Palestinians during a quick visit on Wednesday, but a deadly hospital blast that he ascribed to an errant rocket fired by Gaza militants derailed talks to prevent the war spreading.
US President Joe Biden has said that Egypt has agreed to open the Rafah crossing into Gaza to allow a first batch of around 20 humanitarian aid trucks through. The shipment, however, would likely not cross until Friday as the road at the crossing needed repairs.
The US president on Wednesday visited Israel hours after Tuesday night's blast at the Ahli Arab hospital in the Gaza Strip, sparking fury in Arab countries that blame Israel and protests in Muslim countries from Egypt to Pakistan.
Israel has bombarded Gaza, where authorities say nearly 3,500 people have been killed, after the Hamas group attacked Israeli cities and killed more than 1,400 people, mostly civilians, and took nearly 200 hostages.
