From chai to ‘i’: Tata Group brews up plans to double 'made in India' iPhone production
Tata Group, one of India's largest conglomerates, plans to double iPhone assembly in India within two years. The acquisition of Wistron's iPhone assembly plant for $125 million will help Apple reduce its reliance on China for production. The move is seen as a boost for India's manufacturing sector, with the government offering incentives for companies to manufacture in the country. Tata is well-positioned to take advantage of these incentives and is expected to invest in expanding the plant's capacity and upgrading technology. The increased iPhone production in India is critical for Apple's growth.
